V&A Glamour of Italian Fashion
A collection of evocative films and interactive displays for the V&A's Glamour of Fashion exhibition
Oozing style from every seam, stitch and
sequin, The V&A's Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014 show charts the country's dramatic transition from post-war ruins to centre of luxury fashion. And along with the clothes and accessories, a collection of evocative films created bySquint/Opera help to tell the remarkable story. Drawing on amazing historic film and photography, including material from the world-famous Cinecittà Luce archive, along with new interviews, our films include footage of the early Sala Bianca catwalks and a look behind the scenes with dressmakers. In addition, we created two large-scale animated projections, 5m x 3m, one incorporating clips from 1950s' Hollywood movies made in Italy such as Roman Holiday and War and Peace, and the other looking at the rise of the paparazzi at this time. Our work also included wall-sized animated projections and a soundscape room with 3D animated map incorporating fabric textures and soundscape of textile factories plus a film of interviews with today's fashion stars.
